I understand that a lot of people turn their noses up when it comes to Ikea, but I definitely believe there's a time and a place for everything, and that in Ikea's case, you shouldn't write the whole store off just because your $12 Lack table didn't last you 6 months in your dorm room. I went last week for some cabinet hardware and found myself ooh-ing and ahh-ing over lots of new items (granted, most were part of their "higher end" Stockholm collection). When I turned my renegade cart into the textiles section and spotted the one-of-a-kind patchwork Turkish rugs they had going on in there, I actually gasped out loud. Some of these were 9' x 12' and only $1200! Love, love, love these. I usually wouldn't spend that much in Ikea unless I was furnishing an entire room (or house), but these seem a worthy purchase. I've spent the last couple of weeks trying to source a 9' x 12' Anatolian rug for a client and was told by a vendor in Turkey that anything that size is extremely rare (thus, expensive) because the houses in Turkey simply aren't that large. So, if you're looking for a large Turkish rug at an affordable price, one of these beauties at Ikea might be just the right solution.
